The effectiveness of equity funding in education in Western countries. Literature review.
Educational priority funding (or equity funding) relates to additional funding (per student) being provided to schools with an above-average representation of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. There is some pessimism about the effectiveness of such policies, but no distinct interpretation of the potential explanations. The OECD published an inspiring study (see PISA in Focus 2014/10) and examined some country cases more closely in the context of its School Resources Review. This report aims to take stock of the existing results of evaluation studies.
