Lessons from Area-Based Initiatives in Education and Training

This report reviews the available evidence about the nature and impact of positive discrimination interventions in education and training in the EU and beyond, focusing particularly on area-based initiatives and interventions in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. It documents predominately the extent to which education-related area-based initiatives have improved the educational attainments for those groups of young people in primary, secondary and post-compulsory education that are relatively poor, live in the most disadvantaged areas and who have historically achieved the lowest educational attainments.
