In addition to the main meeting with seven major knowledge providers, the Directorate General for Education and Culture organised a lively debate ‘Evidence-based Policy Making in Education: Reality or Myth?’. The debate, which was led by Deputy Director-General Jens Nymand Christensen, discussed the uneven impact of evidence gathering on actual policy-making across countries, the importance of expertise/capacity in national administrations to put policy into practice, the influence of public opinion on policy-making, the importance of high-quality research and systematic literature reviews and the role of supranational institutions in policy-making. The NESET II network was represented by the Scientific Coordinator, Jana Huttova.
