Presentation of TEFCE Toolbox for Community Engagement in Higher Education

On 3 December 2020, NESET Deputy scientific coordinator Irma Budginaitė-Mačkinė will moderate an event on TEFCE Toolbox in the framework of the project Towards a European Framework for Community Engagement in Higher Education (TEFCE).

Universities play a crucial role in addressing pressing societal needs, from supporting the social development of the towns and cities they are based in, to helping solve societal challenges at the global level – and this role has been further highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

But how can we determine the extent to which higher education institutions engage with their external communities, and whether they do so in mutually beneficial ways?

The EU-funded project Towards a European Framework for Community Engagement in Higher Education (TEFCE) has launched the TEFCE Toolbox as a fully open-access resource at www.tefce.eu/toolbox, along with an explanatory video, an infographic and Word templates for users. The Toolbox is an institutional self-reflection framework that supports universities to improve how they address societal needs through partnerships with their communities.

The webinar will present the TEFCE Toolbox and what benefits its implementation can bring in practice through testimonials of two higher education institution in Europe (University of Rijeka, and Technological University Dublin). TEFCE Toolbox has now been officially launched and is now available as a fully open-access resource at www.tefce.eu/toolbox, along with an explanatory video, an infographic and Word templates for users.
