European Commission launches two open public consultations on education for environmental sustainability and pathways to school success

Fellow education experts and stakeholders, the European Commission, in the context of its work on the European Education Area, has launched open publications on two of the key initiatives:

  • A public consultation to gather input for a proposal for a Council Recommendation on education for environmental sustainability, to be adopted by the Commission late 2021. This new policy initiative will set out the key challenges for integrating sustainability into education and will recommend a series of actions for education and training providers and policy makers. It will also detail how the Commission plans to support this work with EU actions and funding over the coming years.  The public consultation is running in 23 EU languages and will be open until 24 September.
  • A public consultation on Pathways to School Success. This initiative aims at promoting better educational outcomes for all children and young people. Targeting a broad audience of educational actors, including learners, the consultation will help shape a proposal for a Council Recommendation on Pathways to School Success, to be adopted by the Commission in the first semester 2022. The public consultation is running in 23 EU languages and will be open until 30 September.

You are encouraged to participate in these two consultations by filling in the questionnaire or by submitting a position paper and spread the word to other education experts and stakeholders.
