Invitation to an online conference “Teachers in Europe: Careers, Development and Well-Being”

Fellow DG EAC knowledge provider, Eurydice Network is hosting an online conference “Teachers in Europe: Careers, Development and Well-Being” which will take place on Thursday 3 June from 11.30 to 13.00 (CEST).

Teachers play an essential role in making the learning process a fruitful experience for every student. The rapid transition from face-to-face to distance learning during the current pandemic has further shown teachers’ fundamental contribution to our societies.

At the same time, the teaching profession has been going through a vocational crisis for some years with many schools sometimes struggling to find qualified teachers. So, what have national and European policy-makers been trying to do in order to overcome these challenges? How do teachers feel across Europe, and how can policies enhance their professional life?

During the conference, we will discuss this topic and present the main findings of the latest Eurydice report about Teachers in Europe. This report focuses on lower secondary teachers and analyses several key aspects and challenges of teachers’ current situation. It covers all 27 EU Member States, as well as the United Kingdom, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&As session and a wider discussion on the topic. We will debate the education policies that influence Teachers’ Careers, Development and Well-being, and provide evidence of both policies and practices.

We hope you will attend the conference. Your virtual presence will be much appreciated.
