NESET, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), is organising a webinar entitled Closing the gender gap in STEM education. What works? which will be held on December 5, from 10:00 to 11:30 (CET).
Despite significant progress and growing interest in research and policy aimed at reducing the gender gap in STEM, women remain underrepresented in STEM careers and among graduates across Europe. Addressing this disparity is a key priority for the European Commission, as STEM education has been defined as a high-level priority for the EU 2024-2029 agenda. NESET has been looking into this topic in its recently published Analytical Report Addressing the Gender Gap in STEM Education Across Educational Levels. This report provides evidence on current research, policy analyses, and best practices for overcoming gender disparities in STEM education, and offers recommendations to inform policy.
In this webinar, we will discuss the report’s findings and its potential use in policymaking decisions. Additionally, we will encourage a broader conversation with EU STEM stakeholders on effective strategies to address gender disparities and drive progress in the field (panel discussion).
Webinar speakers:
Panel discussion: Beatrice Boots (EU STEM Coalition), Agueda Gras-Velazquez (European Schoolnet/Scientix) and Jan Lundell (Chair of the Luma centre).
Moderator: Cosmin Nada (NESET Expert Committee member)
